I am Anosh Dawson from Jabalpur , Madhya Pradesh. Mechanical Engineer from IET DAVV, Indore and a curious photographer. I have been with YMCA New Bhedaghat since 2021 and though I have always been a bit of a wanderlust the treks and camps of YMCA have unlocked my sporty side and even improved my photography.
YMCA has provided me with incredible opportunities through national camps, allowing me to meet new people from diverse backgrounds and languages.
The Sattal camp, organized by YMCA New Delhi, was an unforgettable experience. Through team-building games and exercises, we learned the importance of teamwork in a fun and engaging way. We also participated in a cultural program, where we explored the folk dances and songs of various cultures. The fearless night treks and hiking helped us connect deeply with nature and appreciate the natural order of things. Not to mention, the breathtaking valley of Nainital and its beautiful sightseeing spots added to the magic of the experience.
Another memorable experience was a family camp in Leh Ladakh, which not only strengthened our bonds but also enlightened us about the region’s cultural heritage. Our stay at YHAI Hostel Leh was exceptionally pleasant, with great hospitality. We visited Shri Patthar Sahib Gurudwara and several local monasteries rich in history and peace. The heavenly views and the cool breeze of Pangong Tso remain unforgettable. Family camps like these not only bring families closer but also offer a deeper understanding of history and culture.
On the 150th anniversary of YMCA, YMCA Trivandrum organized a camp for the YMCAs of Central India. Here, we learned about the history of India’s first YMCA and the establishment of YMCA in India. We visited Palayam, where St. Joseph’s Church, Juma Mosque, and Ganapati Temple stand together around a single square—a beautiful symbol of unity. YMCA Trivandrum’s spice farm helped us appreciate the local efforts toward organic farming. We also got an insightful glimpse into the lives of fishermen, and with so many stunning beaches and churches, the Madre De Deus Church stood out with its heavenly presence at Vettukadu Beach.
YMCA New Bhedaghat also organizes regional camps, treks, and hikes that are fun, eco-friendly, and adventurous. For fitness enthusiasts and photographers, these activities serve as the perfect way to pursue their passions while embracing nature.

From weekly treks to regional activities and camps, and even national and international programs, I have enjoyed every moment to the fullest. Whether it was having fun with teammates and friends or receiving guidance from highly knowledgeable mentors, every experience has been invaluable.
I have grown in so many ways—from performing my first-ever dance (which I didn’t even know we were doing until an hour before!) to sharing my experiences on the mic in front of hundreds of people. I have learned teamwork and leadership while also gaining a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the younger generation in shaping the future.
After joining YMCA New Bhedaghat, I have learned, enjoyed, and truly lived. Now, I’m always excited for the next YMCA activity because I love every part of it!
In my experience, YMCA has shown me a world that reflects how we, as humans, should ideally live—a world of harmony and peace, joy and learning, and most importantly, love for everyone.

My YMCA Journey: A Transformative Experience
My journey with YMCA began in 2020 with a trekking program hosted by YNB near Jabalpur. This experience was not just an adventure but a stepping stone into the world of leadership and community engagement. As a volunteer, I had the privilege of guiding fellow trekkers, ensuring their safety and motivation to complete the trek. Successfully completing the entire season gave me a newfound sense of responsibility and confidence.
Following this, I had the opportunity to participate in the CIR Youth Assembly, held on the banks of the sacred Narmada River. This event deepened my understanding of the NCYI (National Council of YMCAs of India) program and its impactful initiatives. With continued involvement and dedication, I was selected for the prestigious NCYI National Program Youth Leadership Camp in Shillong. This experience was nothing short of transformative. I met the extended NCYI family, engaged with esteemed officials, and participated in exhilarating activities like trekking, camping, and sightseeing.
The next milestone in my journey was an honor beyond expectations—I was selected to be a part of APAY (Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs) held in Chennai. This was my first-ever international conference, where representatives from various Asian countries gathered to discuss and collaborate on youth empowerment initiatives. Representing NYCI (YMCA India) on such a grand stage was both a privilege and a learning experience. I formed lasting friendships with people from different countries, broadening my perspective and strengthening my belief in global unity.
After returning from APAY, my enthusiasm for YMCA programs only grew. I continued to actively participate in local events, leading to my selection for another esteemed NCYI National Program—HARBINGER OF CHANGE, held in Ooty, Karnataka. This platform reinforced my leadership skills and allowed me to contribute further to the YMCA community.
Reflecting on my journey, I am immensely grateful to YNB for shaping me into the person I am today. The experiences, connections, and lessons gained through YMCA have been invaluable. I strongly encourage all youth to become members of YNB, as it provides unparalleled opportunities for personal growth, national-level trekking, and international exposure. This journey has been a remarkable chapter in my life, and I look forward to continuing my association with YMCA and contributing to its noble mission.

Hey, I am Kush Sharma, and I have always been fascinated by trekking and exploration. My journey began with YMCA’s Rainforest Walk – Season 2. It started at 4 a.m. on a Sunday with Trek 1, and I went on to participate in five out of six treks, giving it my heart and soul.
During these events, I was thrilled to be selected for YMCA’s National Camp in Kerala. The camp at St. Marthoma Church on Ashtamudi Lake provided an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow adventurers from across India while immersing myself in the breathtaking beauty of Kerala. The experiences, memories, and bonds formed during this time will be cherished for a lifetime.
After the camp, we explored Kanyakumari, witnessing the stunning views of the Indian Ocean. This adventure further fueled my passion for exploration, and I eagerly look forward to many more thrilling experiences in the future.

Hello, I am Harshita Singh and I connect with YMCA New Bhedaghat through their exciting trekking program (Rainforest Walk season 2) which led me to many thrilling adventures and educational initiatives that have broadened my outlook on life.
The word “Harambee” means “all pull together” and perfectly encapsulated the spirit of my Kerala (Kollam) National Camp, where I was selected based on my performance in Rainforest Walk – Season 2.
The National Council of YMCAs of India organized the National Youth Leadership Camp, titled “Harambee: Youth for Collective Leadership and Action” (2024), for young full members. This prestigious event was hosted by the Southwest India Region of YMCAs.
Kerala, famously known as “God’s Own Country,” welcomed us with its breathtaking beauty. We stayed at Mar Thoma Dhyanatheeram in Perungalam, Kollam, surrounded by the serene Ashtamudi Lake. Here, we not only learned and enjoyed but also created unforgettable memories.
During the educational sessions, we explored topics such as collective leadership, the challenges faced by youth, and case studies of impactful youth movements through engaging discussions, activities, and interactive sessions.
Beyond the classroom, we embraced the natural beauty of Ashtamudi Lake through boat rides, ventured into mangroves, and came together for campfires, music, and dance. We also savored Kerala’s local delicacies and built strong friendships with people from across India.
This trip to Kerala will always hold a special place in my heart—not just for the stunning landscapes we explored but for the invaluable experiences and lessons I took home.
